Travel: Summer Still Going Strong In Hampton Beach
Yes, the Back To School sales have started (but then again Halloween candy is out on shelves now, I digress). And the weather in the Northeast is already hinting at fall. But there is still plenty of summer fun left to be had. Hampton Beach, NH is just down the road from Portsmouth and it is bustling with entertainment activities for young and old alike.
Just last month, famous rocker Slash, of Guns N’ Roses fame, started his US tour there. And Sammy Hagar rocked the Hampton Beach Casino last week. John Bonham’s son was on the drums for that one! There must be something about the quaint little beach side town that keeps drawing these big names in rock n’ roll history.
But if family-friendly partying is more your speed these days, there is certainly enough of that to go around. The Hampton Beach Children’s Festival begins on the 11th with a magic show, face painting, mini golf, and marionettes! It continues all week and is free to all.
Last year, me and the kids packed up and headed out for this festival and had a blast. We took the 101 from Manchester and on the way back we stopped off at a great little Epping, NH movie theater to catch Despicable Me 2 (which was great by the way). I think we’ll end up with a similar plan this year.
So, don’t lament if you haven’t gotten the most out of your summer yet. There are still plenty of affordable options in and around New Hampshire.
